The Durham Art Gallery welcomes violinist and multidisciplinary artists, Leslie Ting for a series of in-person performances.

​

Artist-performer Leslie Ting brings two experimental, interactive installations that explore our relationships to the violin, a mythologized instrument of western classical music.

​

West Gallery: Visitors are invited to pick up a violin and 'tell it your problems'. This intimate physical exchange between human and instrument will then trigger a soundscape response, drawn from Ting's 'What Brings You In' recordings.

​

East Gallery: A series of live concert performances of Bach's Chaconne for solo violin will begin, then pause halfway through to invite the audience to contribute to the contemplative exploration of the perceived weight of expectation, tradition, and identity.
